First of all, she talked about what does it means for her represents Team Ireland, so it’s very special because of the families, the country, being the moment of putting in work all year. If it have pressure about it, she answer that there is, they must show how hard the team trained. The conversation continues, in the topic of playing against Argentina and Australia but she analyze, in a good way, the place where the tournament was: Tasmania. The setup was great, two pitches, good support and really competitive games in men-women FiH Pro League. The definition for the Team green and gold was that they have a similar style of Ireland meanwhile, ARG was totally different they we´re used to. Defensively it was definitely challenging, but such a good experience coming up against some of the best players in the world explain.
Second, she told to us the differences between the first match against ARG and the second. Ireland Team studies and want it to improve, that why in the second they believes it could be done it by attacking more, started strongly and got the first goal. In addition, the next match was against Australia, were the team make an historic victory playing very well and putting in practice all the theory before the matched started. This generation was the first Irish team to beat aussie team in the history which is not something to skeep. So by Sarah, who was part of it: “We backed our attack and trusted the game plan to get the result we wanted”.
Finally, on the other hand she got memories about the once-in-a-lifetime experience Olympics Tokyo 2020, yes, the year of Covid pandemic with give it more mysticism. Lastly, she ended with the Chile pre-World Cup.
Its begins…
1) ¿What does mean for u represents Ireland Team? ¿It’s a pressure or like a family?
When we ahead away for tournaments, its always special to represent our country, our families, and the wider squad who´ve put in the work all year.
There´s definitely pressure to perform and show how hard we´ve trained, but when we do well, it reflects the effort and commitment on the whole squad.
2) ¿What can u told me about the Pro League in Australia against ARG and AUS? ¿Which match was most difficult?
It was really cool to play the Pro League in Tasmania. The setup was great, two pitches, good support, and really competitive games in both the men´s and women´s competitions. Australia play a similar style to us, so it was great to be part of such a fast paced game with loads of goal-scoring chances.
Argentina are very different to what we´re used to. They play with a lot of flair. Defensively it was definitely challenging, but such a good experience coming up against some of the best players in the world
3) First game against Las Leonas was not the best day but the second u improve a lot? ¿What odo the team talk about it?
We were disappointed with our defensive effort against Argentina in the first game. We reviewed the clips and had honest conversations about what needed to improve going into the second match. We also spoke about backing ourselves more in attack, even against the top-ranked sides.
That showed in the second game when we started strongly and got the first goal. Both of those areas are huge for us moving forward if we want to hold onto our spot in the Pro League next season.
4) It was historic the win against Australia, what do the people of Ireland send to u? And the team believe before the match u can do it?
We´ve got a great support back home and it means a lot. It was a brilliant result for the squad and something we´ll take a lot of confidence from going forward.
We were disappointed to only come away with one point from the first against Australia, but we backed our attack and trusted the game plan to get the result we wanted.

5) Memories about the OLY days
Tokyo was an incredible, once-in-a lifetime experience. The stress of the Covid restrictions and empty stands faded pretty quickly once we stepped out onto the pitch for our first game against South Africa.
Living in the Olympic Village alongside world-class athletes and celebrating Team Ireland´s successes together is something I’ll never forget. Hopefully we can qualify again and do it all over in LA in 2028
6) ¿How is the team preparing for the Chile pre-World Cup?
We´ve a bit of time off this week before travelling to Chile next week.
We´ll have a solid week of training and a few warm-up games before the competition starts.
We´ve watched plenty of video on our opponents and we´ll keep reviewing our recent Pro League performances to make sure we´re in the best place possible going into the tournament.
We want to be competing with the best teams in the world, so qualifying for the World Cup is a huge goal for the squad and the wider programme.
