First of all, she started saying what does represented to her being part of the Ireland hockey team, and that she was united to the sport since six years old, I mean very little. Agree, that living this moment is a dream and she is so lucky of it. After that, the conversation begun if the green t-shirt is a pressure or not, in consequence is very important to take control the things you can control, the rest is out of the hands as a smart answer I think so.
Second, she told the Tulphoofklasse experience of being part of the most important club league for the hockey and have in front all the weekends Yibbi Jansen, Freeke Moes, for example. On the other hand, she have an injured that take him out of some couple of matches. With the competitive in her mind, she explains that would love to have another time the opportunity to be part of that league again. Why not? I think she could do it. Then, Sarah give a definition of Las Leonas as a team which have quick skills, very fast and fit. Ireland Team is looking forwards to this matches underline.
Finally, Sarah go back in her sport life with the OLY experience in Tokyo.
Its begins….
1) ¿What does it means for you to represent your nation in hockey?
I love representing Ireland for hockey, I’m so grateful. Hockey´s always been in my life, I started watching my family play, then I started when I was about 6 and now playing to represent Ireland is a dream! I can´t imagine doing anything else, I am so lucky.
2) ¿Being part of the Ireland Team it have pressure? ¿How do you work on it?
Yes, there is always pressure-to perform your best, to be selected for the team and results of the matches of course. I think to become a good athletes it´s how you manage to control the things you can, the rest is out of my hands! I try to focus on the things I can control, for example: how I show up or fuel myself for a busy day of training.
3) U played in the Tulphoofdklasse. ¿How is being against top players during the weekend? It not be easy be in front of Yibbi Jansen, Freeke Moes or Renee Van Laarhoven
Yes, I played for HDM last season. I love it it!. You are playing top opposition every weekend-I learnt a lot and I had to quickly. It´s the best club league in the world.
Unfortunately not too many people know but I broke my ankle mid way through the season so couldn’t finish the last couple of games. I was very disappointed to finish the season that way. But would love to do It again! I have great memories that will last a lifetime
4) ¿What do you think about Las Leonas? For Joosje Burg r a tough team she said me on an interview
We played Las Leonas in February 2023 in Mar del Plata. They are a tough opposition, quick skills and are very fit and fast. It will be a goof challenge for us; we are looking forward to the matches!
5) ¿What can you talk me about the Olympian experience?
I look back and think of it as a dream sometimes. I ask myself ¿did that really happen? I was 19 years old (and now 24). In Tokyo I tough to myself-this is what I want to do for as long as possible!- We missed out the Paris Olympics through a shootout. It feels like unfinished business- but I know it´s what fuels me into wanting to go again…
